EMQ MEMBERSHIP

We’re excited to welcome new members!

For nearly 60 years, The Butter Paddle has been a destination for unique, high-quality gifts and home accessories. Entirely volunteer-run, The Butter Paddle is operated by more than 70 dedicated members of the EMQ Auxiliary. All store proceeds benefit Pacific Clinics, a nonprofit providing behavioral and mental health services for at-risk children and families in our community.

MEMBER REQUIREMENTS

• Work in the store twice per month (three times in November and December), each shift is 3 - 4 hours.
• Work on the Stock Committee twice a month for 1 - 3 hours per shift.
• Serve on one additional committee. There are various committees to choose.
• Attend the General Meetings. The General Meetings are the first Tuesday after the first Monday of the month. There are no meetings in July or August. The General Meetings provide information about new merchandise, store procedural updates, and Auxiliary activities.
• The above obligations take approximately 16 to 20 hours each month.
• Annual dues are $125. September Provisionals pay $62.50. Dues are used to operate the store under its nonprofit status.

Social Events

Social events are organized to enhance our member experiences. We organize a variety of social events such as: day trips to local points of interest, themed parties, luncheons, happy hour socials, and even a ladies overnight getaway. These social events are optional, but you are encouraged to participate in any of the events that are of interest to you.

Membership Timeline

An introductory coffee is held in late January and again in July for those who have filled out an Interest Sheet or Application. Membership is delivered by invitation. New PROVISIONAL members are accepted in March and September. The provisional period is six-months. Provisionals transition to ACTIVE members after completing all requirements of the provisional period.
