Membership

 The EMQ Auxiliary has operated The Butter Paddle since 1967 as a way to generate funds to help the children and families served by Pacific Clinics (formerly Uplift Family Services).

The Butter Paddle is an all-volunteer operated store.  We are proud that we have been donating all of our store profits to Uplift Family Services for over 50 years!  With two campuses located in Campbell and Los Gatos, Pacific Clinics assists children and their families who are struggling with abuse, neglect, emotional problems, or mental illness. 

We are excited by the prospect of your becoming a member of the EMQ Auxiliary.  As an introduction, the following is an overview of what is required of each member: 

• Work in the store two shifts per month (three in November and December).  Each shift is 3½ to 4 hours long.  

• Work on the Stock Committee twice a month (a commitment of 1 to 3 hours each session depending upon the quantity of stock received).  

• Serve on one additional committee.

• Attend the General Meetings, usually held on the second Tuesday of each month (no meeting in July or August). The General Meetings are important because you learn about new merchandise, store procedural updates, and various Auxiliary-planned activities.

These obligations take approximately 16 to 20 hours per month.  To round out our experiences and to get to know one another better, we organize a wide variety of social events, such as day trips to local points of interest, theme parties, four luncheons per year, happy hour socials, and even a ladies overnight get-away.  The social events are optional, but you are invited and encouraged to participate in any of them that are of interest to you. 

Membership is by invitation and new “provisional” members are accepted in March and September.  The provisional period is six-months.  Provisionals become active members after completing all requirements of the provisional period.  The provisional period provides an opportunity to make sure you and the organization are a good fit for each other. 

Annual dues are $100.  (September provisionals pay $50.)
